Spend a Wonderful Weekend:

Trick or Treating in NWA

Whether you’ve been slaving away making your kids Halloween costumes or you just had an especially traumatic trip to Halloween Express you’re probably wondering how to get the most mileage out of that pricey costume. Lucky for you NWA has a ton of Halloween events and you’ll be able to attend more than one of them.

This is just a sampling of the family friendly things to do this October.

* Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park will kick off the Halloween season with their annual Haunted Battlefield Tour on October 24th. The first tour leaves at 7 pm and the last one leaves at 10 pm. Admission is $2 for grownups and $1 for kids. Call 479-846-2990 for more information.

* Turpentine Creek will be sponsoring their Howl-o-ween Spooktacularevent again this year. It will be on the 25th from 7-9 pm. It features the “Trail of Terror” as well as spooky storytelling, games and food. Call 479-253-5841 for more information.

* Shiloh Museum is hosting candle light tours of the Hawkins House from 7-9pm on October 30-31. They have a full day of events on the 31st beginning at 10:30. Keep an eye out for the circa 1860 horse drawn hearse out front..

* The 25th Annual Goblin Parade will take place in downtown Rogers on the 30th from 3:30-5:30 pm. Kids in costume will form the parade in the Historic District and trick or treat businesses along the way.

* The Fayetteville Farmer’s Market will be having a Halloween Kids Day Costume contest on the square from 7am-1pm on October 31st.

* Fayetteville’s Trick or Treat on the Square is on the 30th from 3-5 pm. Mall-O-Ween is on the 31st from 6-8pm.

* The Peel Mansion Museum will be doing their Historic Ghost Walk. This event includes dinner and tours of the Peel Mansion and the historical section of the Bentonville Cemetery. Tours start October 22 and are hosted through October 29. Email lark@comptongardens.org with questions.

With any luck their costumes will be worn out by the end of the season and they won’t insist on wearing it to the grocery store, church, or for their next doctor’s visit. Have a happy and safe Halloween. And make sure whatever you do to . . .

Have a Wonderful Weekend!!
