Spend a Wonderful Weekend: Learning to Ice Skate

If you’ve always wanted to ice skate or just want to brush up on your skills then this is just the thing for you. The Ozark Figure Skating Club and US Figure Skating are hosting “It’s Great to Skate” at the Harvey and Bernice Jones Center for Families. The event will take place on January 17th from 9 a.m. -1:30 p.m.

Professional skaters will hold a clinic for skaters of all ages. They will be teaching the basics of ice skating. There will also be figure skating and hockey exhibitions, free classes and goodies. Skate rental will be waived for the event and no registration is necessary.  Even though the rink is indoors it is still cold so make certain to dress appropriately. Lockers are available to store any items that you may have brought with you.
If you’d like to round out the day, then bring your swimsuits and reserve tickets for a session at the indoor pool. It’s a great way to warm up after a chilly morning in the rink. You can call 479-756-8090 ext. 2101 to reserve tickets.

The café in the Jones Center is scheduled to be open that day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Their menu includes sandwiches, pizza by the slice, salads and baked potatoes. Contact Sarena Huffman at 479-531-2590 for further details about the “It’s a Great Skate” event. Have a wonderful weekend!
