September 2010

Posted on 31. Jan, 2010 by admin in From the Editor

Ahhh…. Fall is in sight… Finally. This is one of my favorite times of year. In part because of the amazing weather, but now it is mostly because I am a Mommy and get to experience all the things that come with this season through my children’s eyes. From the new Ozark Corn Maze, to walks along the city trails, and, of course, UA football games and picking pumpkins on McGarrah Farm. There is something for everyone this season to create memories that will last a lifetime.

For me, September also brings memories of my good ol’ college days at the UA. This is where I met my husband along with some of the most wonderful friends who have remained a big part of my life.

My freshman year of college, in my very first class, I met a person who would come into and out of my life in what I now consider “perfect timing.” Back then Kelly and I were just trying to find ourselves and define our new boundaries as independent college students, both English majors — class of “05. Today we are both Moms to beautiful girls, each searching to redefine ourselves in these new roles. Her role as Mother has been an experience unlike what she expected it to be, but she is playing the part in a way that is an inspiration to everyone who knows her. She was so wonderful to share her story with Peekaboo and it is my hope that everyone who reads it embraces their own role as a parent with the same conviction and great strength.

Speaking of being a Mom to a little girl, a new children’s nail salon and boutique opens this month in Fayetteville. Glitterbox is a little girl’s dream. This is her chance to be a princess and get a manicure and pedicure in a chair just her size followed by a trip through the boutique where clothes, shoes, and bows abound. This is a must visit for anyone who has a special little girl in their life.

Enjoy the start of Fall this month. Take time to visit the Roger’s Historical Museum and let your children experience Rogers “then and now.”

When you order frogs legs at a restaurant what do they do with the rest of the frog ? – Well surely they just throw the rest of the frog away and take it to the tip.
